Snorkeler Finds 100K Diamond in Coral Reef

Snorkeler finds 100K diamond.

While on a cruise, a snorkeler enjoying his vacation found a diamond worth $100,000 while diving near the ship. Per a recent article from the Daily Mail, “Bundaberg man Stuart said he was diving 10 years ago when he made the amazing find miles from civilisation out at sea.”

I don’t know about you, but what I wouldn’t give to have found a 2.5 carat diamond off the coast of Australia. Finding just a few pieces of nice quartz is hard enough. Imagine just casually going for dive, and seeing that fine specimen glinting below me.

‘I was diving down, snorkeling around the reef and it caught my eye and I dived a bit further down and I grabbed it,’ he said.

And as if that weren’t lucky enough, he also wins 11.5K playing Bingo while on the same cruise. Someone get this man a ticket to Vegas. Some picks for the recent billion dollar Powerball may have been a good choice, too. Better yet, maybe we need to just get him out the mine & see how far that lucky streak reaches…

He told the show: ‘I played bingo for the first time in my life on that cruise and won $11,500.’

After reading further along the article, it goes on to say this lucky find was over 10 years ago. Upon returning to the cruise ship, he announced his find to the ship’s hosts as well as the remaining guests, offering to return the item if someone could describe it. There has yet to be anyone to come forward to claim it.

The diamond found in the coral reef stays locked in a safe, in his home. I think it’s safe to say that after all this time, that diamond belongs to him. If it were me however, I’d probably at least loan it out to a local museum. There’s an interesting story behind the find & it’s a shame no one gets to see it.
